177th World Anesthesia Day

Today, on October 16, 2023 the world comes together to celebrate the 17th World Anesthesia Day. This significant occasion is observed globally to raise awareness about anesthesia safety and its pivotal role in healthcare. In Ethiopia, Ethiopian Association of Anesthetists, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Anesthesiologist Society and the Ministry of Health, is commemorating this day with a range of activities aimed at promoting public awareness and ensuring anesthesia safety. Let’s delve into the exciting initiatives being undertaken to mark this special day.

Panel Discussion:
As part of the World Anesthesia Day celebrations, a thought-provoking panel discussion is being organized. Esteemed experts and professionals from the field of anesthesia will gather to share their insights, experiences, and strategies for enhancing anesthesia safety. This platform will facilitate meaningful discussions on best practices, advancements, and challenges in the field, fostering knowledge exchange and promoting collaborative efforts.

Webinar:
In the spirit of promoting public awareness, a webinar on anesthesia safety is being conducted. This online event will reach a wide audience, including healthcare professionals, students, and the general public. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of anesthesia safety, its impact on patient outcomes, and the measures taken to ensure a secure anesthesia journey. The webinar will feature expert speakers who will enlighten the audience with their expertise and engage in interactive Q&A sessions.

Blood Donation :
To further highlight the significance of World Anesthesia Day, a blood donation drive is being organized. Recognizing that blood transfusions are often an integral part of anesthesia procedures, this initiative serves as a reminder of the vital role blood donation plays in ensuring patients’ well-being. By encouraging individuals to donate blood, the event aims to contribute to the availability of a safe and adequate blood supply, supporting anesthesia and surgical procedures.

Happy World Anesthesia Day!
